After you have logged into your “myWaldorf” account, you will find a link “myHardware” below the “licence keys”. There you will find updates, init files and much more.
This device has unbalanced outputs. We recommend using it with unbalanced cables.
Make sure that your device is connected to your computer directly and not through a hub.
Use the rear USB ports of your computer, not the front USB ports.
Disconnect all other USB devices from your computer which aren’t needed at the moment.
Change the USB cable or try from a different computer.
On Mac: Click on About this Mac in the Apple menu. Select System Report. Go to the Hardware dropdown menu on the left and unfold it. Select USB. Check if your device is listed there.
On Windows: Press the Win key+R. Enter devmgmt.msc and press OK. Check if your device is listed there. If it shows up as an “Unknown Device” and if there’s a black and yellow warning sign, deinstall the driver. Then unplug the instrument, reboot your machine and plug it back in.
The panel firmware isn’t updated automatically after an OS update and has to be updated manually after the installation of a new OS version.
Press Global -> System -> Flash Panel
Afterwards the new flash panel software will be installed. Keep following the instructions on the display.
IMPORTANT: Don’t turn your device off or unplug it from the power socket while the panel firmware is updated!
In general, you can use any commercially available SD card.
It should be formatted FAT32 or exFAT, which is standard when you buy a card. Special certifications (high speed cards – SDXC) for increased speed are not necessary and are more likely leading to misbehavior. A simple inexpensive SDHC card is usually quite sufficient.
However, we do not recommend using an SD card for storage purposes. The USB interface is much better suited, as it is more reliable and faster. An SD card is only needed when restoring the factory settings (full init). In this case, an SD card and a USB device are required. Of course, it can be practical to use an SD card if a keyboard or other USB controller is already connected to the USB host interface.
Since we have not tested all SD cards and the market is quite large, it is difficult to give a comprehensive recommendation.
Please make sure the SD card is turned upside down and inserted properly. Also, it should be formatted in the FAT32 format. There are no known incompatibilities with any SD card.
The Quantum update file contains the OS with the software for the synthesis, GUI, etc. and a separate software for the panel controller which drives the buttons, LEDs and potentiometers. Both of these are just in one file, the quantum.update.bin. If there is a newer panel software available in the update file on the card, Quantum will notify you about this panel software update when you update the main OS. In this case, you can push the Flash Panel button. Otherwise, this function does not have to be used.
Import: Copy the patches onto an SD card. Copy the patches in a way that all patches from one bank are within one folder on the card.
If you have bought a sound set, copy the entire directory with the sounds to the card. If there is a subfolder with samples, copy the entire directory so that the file structure is kept.
On your device, press Load>Actions>Import. Navigate to the card and mark the folder which contains the patches you want to import. Now the device asks where these files should be saved. Enter the number of the first slot into which the files should be imported. Press Import. The device now automatically imports all patches from the selected folder.
If OS 2.0 or higher is installed, the samples from the sub folder will be imported automatically as well and you can also use an USB stick instead of the card.
When you import an entire folder, all patches will be inserted into the slots in alphabetic order. Gaps between patches will be omitted and everything will be imported in one block.
Export: Please go to Load>Actions>Export. Here, you can select and export your patches.
From Version 2.0 and later, samples that belong to a patch will be exported automatically with the patch.
Turn a knob on the front panel or tap on the corresponding rectangle on the screen with the parameter name you want to control. In the context menu that appears afterwards, press MIDI Learn CC.
Move your external control or tap the field and enter the CC number. Now the device will change the value upon incoming CC messages.
To control volume, press Layer. Tap onto the Vol rectangle in the upper left corner. Assign your CC as described above.
You can also go to Global>MIDI>Mappings and assign your CCs there.
Note that the assignment is valid globally for all patches. Make sure that you’re sending the CCs on the correct MIDI channel so that you change the values on the correct layer.
You will have to use the Favorites list in order to get the Prog CH working.
Load a patch that you want to call up later. Go to a screen that is not Load/Save – for example, go to the Osc1 page.
Press on the Perform button or the central value encoder. This opens up the Favorites screen. Tap and hold an empty field to insert your current patch onto one of those fields. You can also use the Favorites function on the Load screen.
This device uses only to the entries in the Favorites lis when Prog CH messages are used. As soon as you have put the most needed patches there, you can call them up by MIDI.
Select the chosen CV Input in the Mod Matrix as source and Pitch as destination. Set Amount to 100%.
Go to Global>Settings>CV and set CV scale to about 2V (or less) which corresponds to the 2 Oct pitch amplitude in the mod matrix.
Each CV input can be individually scaled.
Press the encoder once or twice to do fine adjustment.
For the function of the “Gate In” no special setting must be made. However, the “Sequencer / Arp” mode must switched off. To do that go to Perform>Autoplay>Mode (bottom) and there select Off.
Please go to Global>System>Calibrate>Filters. Press Reset. After the reset all filter calibration data is erased, afterwards the filters should be controllable again.
In rare cases, you need to calibrate and reset the filter callibration data a second time.
First of all, before you start, make sure the Mod wheel is at the lowest position and the pitch bend is in the middle position.
Go to Global>System>Calibrate>Wheels & AT.
Now move the pitch bend first up to the highest position, then let it snap back into the middle position. Now move it down to the lowest position. Repeat that five times. Make sure to push it all the way towards the upper and lower boundaries and don’t press or turn anything else on Quantum while you are doing it. Then move the mod wheel to the uppermost and lowermost position five times, again don’t press or turn anything else on while you are doing it
Afterwards, press more than five keys at the same time with high and low pressure to set the sensitivity for the aftertouch range.
Press Done when finished and then reboot Quantum. Now tap onto the VU meters in the lower left corner of the screen and switch to the MIDI Monitor. Check if everything works as it should. Pitch bend and mod wheel should not produce any messages unless they are being moved. If pitchbend, mod wheel and aftertouch are not working correctly, repeat the calibration process and follow the steps above exactly as mentioned.
Open the patch where you want to neutralize the pitch bend controller.
Add a modulation in the Mod Matrix:
Pitch Bend > Pitch. Set the Amount of this modulation to -70.60%. In order to get to this value, you will have to push the encoder for this value down to switch to Fine editing mode.
Now, you can turn the pitch bend wheel and the pitch will not change.
If the patch is set to a PB Range different than the default +12, you may either adjust the modulation value in the Mod Matrix or the PB range on the Osc1/2/3>Control tab.
When you’re done, save the patch to keep the changes.
This procedure has to be made in every patch where you want to apply this control.
Go to Load>Actions>Import and select the .syx file on the card or USB stick. The device will now ask where to save the patches after the import and starts processing them.
Every DX7 patch will create an individual patch on the device. Settings will be imported to Osc1 Kernel.
Maybe the routing will be changed so that Osc1 bypasses the filters and goes directly into the VCA. This can be changed manually in Filters>Routing.
Note that this will only work with OS 2.0 or higher installed.
Under the following link you can download a PDF in which the most important settings are explained.
To play a split sound via an external keyboard connected to the USB host port, the function: Apply Split to MIDI
must be activated. This can be found under: Global/MIDI/Inputs
Under the following link you can download a PDF with instructions.
Please log in to your “myWaldorf” account. Here you will find all the necessary files and instructions under “my hardware”.
Create a new attribute with the correct spelling and assign it to the patch it belongs to. Make sure that no patch uses the attribute with the typo. On the next reboot, the mistyped attribute will be removed from the list.
In Latch Mode, a key is engaged when pressed and sustained until you hit the same key again, then the note will be released.
In Chord Mode, only the last note or chord will be held until you press the next key(s), then the previous notes will be released and the new note or chord will be sustained.
Open the Mod Matrix and make three modulations: Keytrack -> Pitch or three times Keytrack -> Osc 1/2/3 pitch if you just want to do it for one of the oscillators. Two of the modulations should have -100% and one about -89%. Afterwards every key will produce the same pitch. To tune the base pitch use another modulation with Constant as the source.
The Expression Pedal must be assigned somewhere, otherwise it won’t have any effect. Go to the Mod Matrix and set a modulation with Pedal as a source and assign it to any destination you like.
If you want to control the volume with the pedal, set the pedal to zero. Create a modulation with Constant->Volume and adjust the amount into the negative area until the output level of Quantum is completely silent. Attention: Negative values for volume will also produce audible sound! You will have to hit the zero level exactly. When done, push the pedal to 100%. Set another modulation with Pedal->Volume. Slowly increase the amount until you can hear something. When the pedal is fully engaged, you can control the maximum loudness with the amount. Keep in mind while using this method, nothing will be audible when the pedal is not plugged in.
Or just use one modulation Pedal->Volume with a negative amount, then the volume gets softer as you press the pedal. In this way something will be audible as well when there is no pedal plugged in.
IMPORTANT: Remember to save the sound after the modulation has been set. The modulations are stored with the sound and have to be done individually for every sound.
Any sustain pedal with a 6,3mm jack that closes the contact when being pressed should work. Our recommendation is a Fatar/Studiologic VFP1/10. Only use a single pedal, dual pedals won’t work.
The pedal should be plugged in before the device is turned on. While the device is switched on and during booting, the pedal should not be pressed, otherwise its state will be inverted.
For the swell / continuous pedal, we recommend using a Fatar/Studiologic VP/27. Otherwise, other 10k maximum resistance expression/swell pedals with linear scale should work, too.
For both sustain and continuous, pedals compatible with Fatar, Roland, Moog, Kurzweil, M-Audio should be working as well.
The Korg/Yamaha models may not work though.
We felt that wrapping this exclusive instrument in plastic would have been inappropriate and wouldn’t have done this instrument justice. Also, the cloth bag protects the instrument from being scratched better than a plastic bag could do.
Yes, you can lift up Quantum and move it around using that rod as a handle.
Make sure that the necessary cables are connected properly and that the introduced signals are the correct type. Also, the device must be powered correctly.
If that and the other hints described on the FAQs do not help, please contact your dealer. In case your device is out of warranty, please send us a message.
No, this device only sends and receives MIDI via USB. Transferring audio via USB isn’t possible.
First, please update the OS. We often release a new firmware with new features and we definetly recommend to do an update. The procedure takes less than a minute. You find the latest updates in your “myWaldorf” account under “myHardware”.
The OS is really stable so crashes rarely occur. If the device crashes anyway, please generate a system logfile by pressing Global>System>Support Log. Include your name and crash date in the file name when saving. Send us your file and we will have a look at your issue.
First, make sure you’ve tried all the procedures above that are related to your issue.
If nothing helps and your device is still covered by warranty, please contact the retailer where this device has been bought.
All our devices come with 2 years of warranty. Depending on local law, some retailers only cover 1 year of warranty service. If your device has been bought more than one but less than two years ago, and your dealer refuses to do a warranty service repair, please contact the distributor for your area. You will find a list of them here: https://waldorfmusic.com/en/international-distributors
If your device is out of warranty, please, use the button in the upper right corner. Please, give a precise description of the error. If it’s really necessary to send in your unit, we will issue an RMA form.
Wrap up your device safely. Ensure that it’s padded at least 5cm/2inches in ALL directions all around. Use a sturdy cardboard box and parcel tape. Do not use gaffers tape as this often becomes detached during transport. You are responsible for transport damages that result in improper wrapping. Best if you use the original padding and box, then wrap up the device as it was when you received it.
Fill out the RMA form on your computer. Print it out, sign it and put it INSIDE the box. We reserve the right to refuse working on devices which come with no error description.
IMPORTANT: When sending in your device from outside the EU
All packages must have a proforma invoice stuck on the OUTSIDE of the box. This is important for the customs duty. The contents of the parcel must be named and described exactly on the invoice, with declaration of the date of purchase and condition of the unit.
We would recommend to describe your device as defective and mark the contents of the parcel at a total value of 25€ or less. Otherwise, there will be extra fees (tax) from customs duties which we must pass onto you. No tax will be charged for goods with a value less than 25 €. Keep in mind that in case the parcel gets lost, the insurance of the post service (if applicable) will only refund the value marked in the declaration.
If the above points are not considered, please be aware that we must charge you the extra costs which arise through customs duty for storage and the additional handling etc. This would be an amount between 60 – 100 Euro.

Iridium and newer revisions of Kyra have a VESA 75 recepticle on the bottom, that’s the standard that TV supports have. Most VESA supports support two standards at once, one with 75mm and one with 100m distance between the middles of the holes. You will have to get one that has the holes for 75mm only, otherwise that won’t fit.
There should be Vesa mounts with an arm available that can be clamped to the edge of a table, so you can position the anywhere where the arm goes, as long as it’s stable. However, we can’t tell one exact model that fits. When choosing, make sure that this support can carry the weight of your instrument safely.
You will need M4 screws for the VESA holes. Important: The screws that you use for the VESA holes must not be longer than 8mm plus the thickness of the VESA mount. Otherwise, the screws may touch the components on the board which may lead to serious damage and/or injury.

At the end of the FAQ list you will find the download links for this product.
After you have logged into your “myWaldorf” account, you will find a link “myHardware” below the “licence keys”. There you will find updates, init files and much more.

How to send the BlofeldV125.mid to your Blofeld?
On mac OS, you can send a MIDI file easily by using the free tool “SysEx Librarian.” For Windows you can use “MIDI OX,” which is also free.
You also can send it with a DAW like Cubase, Logic… (This procedure won’t work with Ableton Live and Bitwig, as these DAWs don’t support Sysex data). Connect your Blofeld through USB or MIDI to your computer. Load the .mid file into a MIDI track of your DAW and play it back to your Blofeld. Reduce the playback speed to 80 bpm and activate transmission of Sysex data, if necessary.
Alternatively, you can use Spectre. Spectre is available in the download section at the end of the FAQ list. In Spectre, click on Audio/MIDI and select the MIDI out connection where Blofeld is attached to. Now click onto Upgrade… in the main window of Spectre and select, which .mid file you want to transmit.
You can also find the download for Spectre below the FAQ list.

If this doesn’t work, switch your Blofeld on and off five times in a row. Don’t do this too fast, leave at least 1-2sec between switch operations.
If your Blofeld is not recognized by the computer under Windows 11, we recommend that you install OS 1.25 HS. Please send us an email to: support@waldorfmusic.com and we will send you the corresponding update.
When you switch on Blofeld, a splash screen will be shown with the current version number.
Blofeld Desktop indicates SL LICENSED on the display if a License SL has been installed afterwards. Blofeld Keyboard always comes with a License SL preinstalled and doesn’t show that indication during the boot up.
Please log in to your “myWaldorf” account. If you don’t have, please create one. Go to the shop, select the Waldorf Edition 2 LE and add it to your shopping cart.
Open the shopping cart and enter your code in the field provided. Click on “Apply voucher”. The amount should be set to zero.
After the purchase has been completed, you will find your activation data and download links for the plug-in under “License keys & plugin downloads”.
Waldorf Edition 2 LE is a software bundle containing 3 plug-ins for your DAW. It’s not needed to run your device and it can’t be installed on your device either.
When a Blofeld Desktop has the License SL installed, the display will indicate SL LICENSED on the splash screen during boot up. Blofeld Keyboard always comes with the License SL pre-installed from the factory and does not indicate any special message on the splash screen during boot up.
No. The License SL is bound to the device, not the owner. When the device is sold to a new owner, the license doesn’t need to be transferred separately. The license sl cannot be sold separately.
Boxed versions of License SL cannot be used for an installation directly. We have stopped distributing these years ago, however, some shops still have some of those in stock. If you have bought one of these, please contact us using the contact form in the upper right corner of this page. Send us the code from the inside of the box and a copy of the invoice. Then, we will issue you a new code right away.
At the end of the FAQ list you find instructions and the required download links.
As soon as the License SL is installed, Blofeld has about 60MB of sample memory. We recommend to load one of the factory samples into your Blofeld. These can be found in the Download section, which is available via the Home link in the upper right corner of this page.
The file format for own samples is .wav 44.1kHz 16bit mono. The Loop points and the root key need to be written into the meta header of the file with a compatible audio editor.
You can either use the Standard Sample set or the HGF waveset. You can find the downloads for both of them in the download section on this page. Some of the additionally available sound sets are built on one of them, see their documentation for details.
This depends on the sound set. Some of the sound sets for Blofeld require the License SL (a sampleset must be loaded). It is indicated in the shop description of the sound set if this is the case. If the description does NOT say “requires License SL” then you don’t need License SL.
Soundsets for Blofeld usually consist of a .mid file.
This has to be played back to Blofeld like a regular MIDI sequence. Most of the sound sets come with multiple files having the same name and “Bank A/B/C…”. This stands for the bank letter of the sound bank in Blofeld that will be overwritten with the new sound bank. Decide on which bank of your Blofeld the new sounds should be saved to and choose the corresponding file. These files contain the same soundset. You should just transmit one of those to Blofeld, otherwise the same soundset will be present on several banks of Blofeld. Blofeld has only eight banks from A to H, it’s not possible to add another one.
The SL License upgrade just unlocks the Blofeld’s ability to use samples as a sound source. It does not install any samples by itself. You can install the Standard Factory Sample Content or the HGF Waveset from our download section, which is available via the Home link in the upper right corner of this page.
The samples can be accessed in the Oscillator Shape menu. Scroll all the way behind the wavetables to get to the sample section. Then, you can use a sample as an oscillation source.
Please note that these sounds are already installed on the Blofeld Keyboard.
Now you can start making your own sounds with samples. We also offer sound sets which have been programmed for Blofelds with License SL. Check them out here: https://waldorfmusic.com/en/blofeld-software
The Blofeld Keyboard always comes with a License SL pre-installed. There’s no need to buy another License SL. The License SL which is sold separately is just for upgrading a Blofeld Desktop.
We haven’t developed an editor for this instrument. You might find one from a third party developer. Please understand that we haven’t tested these editors and therefore we cannot give any recommendation and we assume no liability for this software.
Make sure that the necessary cables are connected properly and that the introduced signals are the correct type. Also, the device must be powered correctly.
If that and the other hints described on the FAQs do not help, please contact your dealer. In case your device is out of warranty, please send us a message.
This is obviously caused by downgrading to an old OS. Please update to the most recent version. See the parent FAQ section on how to perform an update.
Blofeld does not have an option to revert back to the factory settings.
You may manually revert the settings available through Shift+Global to:

If Blofeld gets stuck and does not react anymore, you may try these operations for soft resets:
Switch Blofeld off and turn the encoder left to the display rapidly back and forth a couple of times while powering up the unit.
Also, press Shift+Multi,Shift+Multi,Shift+Multi quickly in a row.
Switch your Blofeld on and off 5 times in a row.
This error message indicates a possible hardware defect. Please, contact our support team for further instructions.
Use the PANIC function, this stops all currently played notes on Blofeld. Press Shift+Play.
If this happens repeatedly, this might be caused by too many incoming MIDI data on Blofeld. Deactivate the transmission of all unused CC messages to Blofeld.
First, please perform a firmware update. Download the firmware from the download section of this page. On top of this page, you will also find a guide on how to perform the update.
Switch Blofeld off and turn the encoder left to the display rapidly back and forth a couple of times while powering up the unit. Then you should be able to work normally again.

The soundset containing a xxx.mid file (ore multiple) that needs to be transmitted to Blofeld.
If the installation wasn’t successful, this is mostly because the transmission went wrong.
Connect Blofeld directly to your computer, with no hubs or other hardware inbetween and with no other devices in the MIDI chain. If you’re using USB MIDI, try using DIN MIDI instead or vice versa. Make sure that the latest OS is installed on Blofeld.
Set the Sysex ID in the Global menu of Blofeld to 0 or 1.
On mac OS, you can send a MIDI file easily by using the free tool “SysEx Librarian.” For Windows you can use “MIDI OX,” which is also free.

The use of channel 10 in Multi Mode can cause crashes. Please use other MIDI channels instead and leave channel 10 unused.
Please press Shift+Global. Turn the encoder left to the display a couple of clicks counterclockwise and change the Contrast value with the left encoder under the display.
The device comes with a wide range power supply which covers everything between 50-60 Hz and 110-240V. You just need a power cord with a “figure of 8” cable, also known as C7 connector and the other plug matching the power grid standard in your country. A voltage converter is not needed.
Please, perform a firmware update as described in the FAQ. This fixes issues with the encoders, especially when the left one from the group of four encoders under the matrix behaves strangely.
If this doesn’t help and if your device is older, the encoders have to be replaced. Please contact our support team via the form in the upper right corner.
Do not apply contact cleaner or similar agents to the encoders. This will not solve the issue for good and you risk damaging your device.
No, this device only sends and receives MIDI via USB. Transferring audio via USB isn’t possible.
At the end of the FAQ list you will find the download links for this product.
After login to your “myWaldorf” account you can find the firmware downloads under “myHardware”

The LED on the right of the dial lit in white.
Click on the LFO button to switch to the System Operation pages.
Use the Sound/System encoder to navigate to the System Service page, where the Update DSP Firmware command is located. Use the silver display dial to select this command.
Press the OK button and follow the instructions.
ATTENTION: Do not under any circumstances turn off M while the update process is in progress. Only when prompted by the device.
A complete loss of data may occur and it will be impossible for you to make your machine work again!
After login to your “myWaldorf” account you can find the firmware downloads under “myHardware”
Copy the „M_Host_Firmware.dfu“ file onto the root directory of a SD card.
Insert the SD card into M’s card slot.
Switch your M off.
Hold down both Bank/Part buttons and switch M on again.
The firmware update should be recognized automatically.
To start the firmware update process, press the OK button.
After the firmware is installed correctly, M burns it into its FLASH memory.
Wait until the operation is completed. If updating was successful, the M will perform a system reset and start by pressing the OK button again.
The “Load Current Bank” function (System/Operations) can be used to reload the currently selected M bank. For example, if bank 8 is selected in the M and the command is executed, bank “sbank0008“ is loaded from the inserted card. If you want to load a soundset to bank 12 for example, simply rename the file to “sbank0012“, select bank 12 on M and load it via „Load Current Bank“
This function also allows whole banks to be copied. For example, if you want to copy bank 13 to bank 10, create a copy of bank 13 with your computer and rename it to “sbank0010”. If you are on bank 10 in the M and select the command “Load Current Bank”, bank 10 (sbank0010) is loaded.
Press on the black encoder on the left side of the display to enter the “Settings” menu of the M. In this menu you can also adjust some other useful parameters beside the “Master Volume” parameter.
With the left encoder under the display select the menu item “Master Volume”.
Now you can adjust the value of this item with the second left encoder under the display.
IMPORTANT: Afterwards the value needs to be stored permanently with the button “Store” on the right side of the display.
Any SD card formatted in FAT32 can be used with the M. We are not aware of any incompatibilities so far.
Special certifications for increased speed are not necessary and are more likely to cause errors and faults.
SD XC cards (exFAT) with higher access speeds cannot be formatted in FAT32 and are therefore not suitable.
Since there are no large data transfers necessary with the M, a simple inexpensive SD HC card is completely sufficient.
If the M displays an error message or “freezes” when using an SD card, please use another SD card. The card may be too old. The card should be low-level formatted with sector size 512 bytes/FAT32
To use the program and bank change commands in M, the global filter must be turned off (no) in the System Settings.
Glob. PC/BC filter – (off)
To use program and bank change in multimode, the two filters per part can be turned on or off.
BCH.FILT – PCH.FILT (on-off)

Please use only the provided power supply. If this didn’t come with your device, please contact your dealer.
The cable between the power supply and your power socket is a common “figure of eight” or C7 plug type. If you happen to have the EU version of the PSU but live outside the EU, you can just get the matching cable to connect it to your socket. The power supply is a wide-range type for every range and combination between 110-240V and 50-60Hz.
This device can’t be powered via USB.
Make sure that the necessary cables are connected properly and that the introduced signals are the correct type. Also, the device must be powered correctly.
If that and the other hints described on the FAQs do not help, please contact your dealer. In case your device is out of warranty, please send us a message.
First, make sure you’ve tried all the procedures above that are related to your issue.

Additionally, you may use CTRL X in the Tweak Matrix. This links one CC directly to a modulation destination of your choice. The corresponding C of CTRL X can be selected in the System menu.
Yes! All the potentiometers and switches send and react to MIDI CC, except for Global Volume and Keyboard Transpose.
Press and hold Tweak while pressing the A button to get into the System menu.
Press + several times until you reach the lowest line. Turn the encoder to the right of the display a couple of clicks until you can see “FACTORY SOUNDSET? [Y]” Press Yes. This plays the factory sound set back in.
Adjust the other settings in the menu to the following values:
MIDI CHANNEL: Omni
Master Tuning: 440 Hz
Transpose: +00
Pitch Bend Range: 02
Control X: 002
Tx Edits: Off
Tx Program Change: On
TX Aftertouch: On
TX Keys/Controls: On
Local Control: On
Device ID: 000
Line In: Off
Input Gain: +18dB
Input Low-cut : Off
Mic Power: On
Freeze Threshold: 002
Instead of the mic that came with STVC, you may use any other dynamic microphone, for example Shure SM58 or Sennheiser e8xx series. Not all mics deliver a sufficiently high level though – Shure Beta 58 A works, but the volume will be soft. Just try out the microphones that you have available. If you find a model that works well, let us know!
Condenser mics will not work though. STVC supplies a small amount of phantom power to the XLR connector, but this voltage is way below the standard 48V and just tailored to the mic that came with your STVC. For this reason, the setting MIC POWER in the System menu must be set to ON when using the supplied microphone.
Do not connect ribbon microphones to the STVC, as the present phantom power may damage your ribbon microphone.
Make sure that the STVC is set up correctly and the mic is connected properly.
Insert the microphone that came with the STVC into the XLR jack on the front board, until the connector clicks audibly.
Press and hold the Tweak button and press A to enter the System menu. Press Yes several times until you reach Input Gain. Use the encoder at the right hand side of the display to set the value to +15 DB.
Go to Mic Power by pressing Yes several times and set this value to ON.
Leave the menu by pressing Tweak again. Now go to any patch. Set the Balance knob to 100% Strings. Press the VOCODER button underneath the microphone connector, until the button is lit. The Freeze button must not be lit for this test!
Set the Main Volume knob to zero. Press and hold a key on the keyboard and talk into the microphone. Distance between you and the mic should be not more like 8″/20cm. Keep on talking, keep holding the key and slowly increase the Main Volume level. At some point, something should be audible over the line and headphone outputs.
If you have another mic at hand, please try this on the STVC as well. You can connect any dynamic microphone (for example: Shure SM58, Shure Beta 58A, Sennheiser e8xx series etc.) Please connect your dynamic mic with an XLR cable and test it. Condenser or ribbon microphones should not be used with the STVC though.
No, that’s not possible. The phaser only works on the string section of Streichfett and STVC.
Yes! Due to the unexpected high number of requests, STVC can be put to Local Control: OFF. Then, the internal sound engine will not react to STVCs internal keyboard, but it will play notes that have been transmitted to STVC via MIDI. In order to reduce support inquiries, this feature is only active until STVC is switched off.
This isn’t possible. The Balance knob only fades between Strings and Solo, but they are equally distributed on both of the stereo channels.
Make sure that the necessary cables are connected properly and that the introduced signals are the correct type. Also, the device must be powered correctly.

You find all required downloads at the end of the FAQ list.
We recommend loading the provided .mid files into your DAW and play them back to your device using standard MIDI playback at 60bpm. Note that this procedure doesn’t work with Ableton Live or Bitwig, please use a different DAW or your system’s standard media player.
To send the update file (.mid) to your device, you can also use our “Spectre” tool. To do this, use the “upgrade” function.
You can also find the download for Spectre below the FAQ list.
At the end of the FAQ list you will find the download links for this product.
Switch on Streichfett and wait for a few seconds. Press and hold all four Memory buttons. While holding them down, use the Depth knob to adjust the tuning. The new frequency of A is announced with a vocoder voice.
Switch on Streichfett and wait for a few seconds. While holding all 4 memory buttons play a note to Streichfett via MIDI on the channel that Streichfett should be adjusted to receive notes on.
If a channel from 1-15 is selected in this way, the strings and solo sections are on this channel and the solo section is also on the following MIDI channel.
If you want to trigger the String sounds on one channel and the Solo sounds on the following channel with split settings being ignored proceed with these steps:
• Press and hold all four Memory buttons and play any key on your master keyboard which is set to MIDI channel 1 to also set the MIDI channel on your Streichfett.
• Set Balance to the middle position so you can hear both Strings and Solo.
• Press and hold the lowest key on your MIDI master keyboard and select “Low” with the Split switch. This sets the split key very low and prevents Solo to be heard, if you play Strings on MIDI channel 1.
Now you can play Strings on MIDI channel 1 and Solo on MIDI channel 2.
To set Streichfett back to OMNI mode, press and hold the four memory buttons during boot up. Attention – This also resets all sounds to the factory settings. Make a backup of your sounds beforehand.
Press and hold memory button 1-2-3 while powering up Streichfett. When all three buttons are flashing, the process is complete.
Please note that the Streichfett will then be in MIDI Omni mode (receives notes on all channels) when you use this method and you will have to adjust your MIDI settings again according to your preferences.
Or download the file from the download section under the FAQs. Transmit the contained .mid file to Streichfett using standard MIDI playback on your DAW (doesn’t work with Ableton and Bitwig) or play it back to Streichfett using your standard system media player. You can also use SysEx Librarian for macOS or MIDI OX for Windows to transmit the file.
No, that’s not possible. The phaser only works on the string section of Streichfett and STVC.
This isn’t possible. The Balance knob only fades between Strings and Solo, but they are equally distributed on both of the stereo channels.
You’ve possibly changed the MIDI channel configuration from Streichfett and/or the attached MIDI devices.
Switch on Streichfett and wait a few seconds.
Press and hold all four Memory buttons until all 4 LEDs start to glow. While holding them down, play a note to Streichfett via MIDI on the channel that Streichfett should be adjusted to receive notes on. In case any MIDI channel from 1 to 14 is selected, the Solo section can be triggered independently of the Strings section on the next channel, with split settings being ignored. So in order to e.g. play Strings on MIDI channel 1 and Solo on MIDI channel 2, proceed as follows:
• Press and hold all four Memory buttons and play any key on your master keyboard on MIDI channel 1 to set the MIDI channel.
Please set the MIDI channels new on your Streichfett as described above and retry.

Waldorf Edition 2 LE is a software bundle containing 3 plug-ins for your DAW. It’s not needed to run your device and it can’t be installed on your device either.
Make sure that the necessary cables are connected properly and that the introduced signals are the correct type. Also, the device must be powered correctly.
If that and the other hints described on the FAQs do not help, please contact your dealer. In case your device is out of warranty, please send us a message.
There was a part planned that could be used to stick this device to another Streichfett, 2-pole or Rocket so it prevented them from drifting apart on a table. However, these parts have never been realised. If you have access to a 3D printer, we encourage you to make some yourself.
No, this device only sends and receives MIDI via USB. Transferring audio via USB isn’t possible.

Version 2.3.4 of the Waldorf Edition 2, which is now available in your Waldorf account, offers an export feature that allows you to export your kit as an fxp file. This file must be copied to the User/Kit directory of the Attack 3 plugin.
On macOS, you can find it at: User Library/Audio/Presets/Waldorf/Attack 3/Kits
and on Windows at: User/AppData/Roaming/Waldorf/Attack 3/Kits
Then go to the user directory of your Attack 3 and refresh the view using the Refresh function, which you can activate by right-clicking.
Your kit should then appear and be ready to load. The basic sound parameters, such as filters and oscillators, will be applied.

Since it is not possible (or rather difficult) for Windows to access a connected hardware in several places, you could try deselecting the Blofeld in the DAW device manager. This way the plugin can communicate with the hardware as the DAW itself does not use the USB port. Otherwise you have the problem that the Blofeld hardware is recognized in the plugin but cannot be selected.
Alternatively, you could try connecting your Blofeld via USB only when the DAW has already been started and you have already opened the Blofeld plugin.
Similar behavior has been described by other users who work with various DAWs on Windows.
The Blofeld plugin can directly load prepared Blofeld user wavetables in sysex and midi file format.
However, certain requirements must be met when importing wavetables as audio files.
The classic wavetable format for the Blofeld is:
64 waves
128 samples per wave
Sample rate: 8 bits
The Blofeld plugin offers several settings for importing wavetables as audio files. If the number of waves is higher than 64, e.g. 256, use the “Full Wavetable Range” function, which imports only every fourth wave.
However, the number of samples per wave should be set precisely for this to work. There is a selection menu (32-4096) for this purpose.
The resolution of the file can probably also be higher than 8 bits (16-32 bits).

For storing a sound, click and hold any of the desired Memory button until its flashing.
After that, the current sound is saved to this location.
The factory sounds of the Streichfett hardware are already available in the Streichfett plug-in.
Since the hardware has 12 memory locations, you will find the factory sounds on bank A 1-8 and on bank B 1-4.
The option “Reset to Factory Presets” restores the factory state.
Please note that both banks A and B will be overwritten.
