The PPG synthesizers opened a new era in sounds using wavetables back in the 70s and 80s. Waldorf incorporated this technology (and the original PPG wavetables) in many of their synthesizers, also in the Iridium/Quantum.
After releasing several sound sets and presets for the Waldorf Blofeld, Pulse2 and the Iridium/Quantum (listen to the free soundset „spaceman“ and the soundsets „FM revistied“ and „FM extended“ available from the Waldorf homepage) this soundset „PPG Dreams“ is one more step towards a magic sonic wavetable-universe of Waldorf synthesizers.
This soundset is a „PPG Dreams“ is my personal sonic view of the PPG sounds and moods! Only the internal wavetables were used to create a variety of sounds reminding me of music by Tangerine Dream, Vangelis, Klaus Schulze and many others. This soundset doesn’t provide exact copies of their sounds but catches the mood and atmosphere in order to give you tools to establish your own new sonic adventures! – Christian Gritzner
Most of the sounds are on the dreamy and ambient side, lots of pads, vocals, vintage analog & digital type patches, lead sounds, some effect sounds, PPG bells and pianos, and much more! „PPG Dreams“ comprises 100 patches based on the PPG wavetables and makes use of the Iridium/Quantum filters and effects. Try the Mod Wheel to change the sounds slightly or massive!
In case you should prefer more of the pure raw digital PPG sound or less full sounding voices in the mix with other instruments just decrease the length or amount of the effect programs used. You can use these patches also as a starting point for your own sonic world! Make use of the sound categories to select similar sounds!
