normal Split keyboard for real [firmware upgrade]?

To play solo with one hand and strings with the other one needs two keyboards and some sort of Midi hub. Will there be a firmware upgrade to split the keyboard w/ the "Split" switch so that below a certain key of the keyboard one plays only the solo (or: bass) and above it only the strings?

Because a Solina worked that way too: the lower keys could be used to play bass. The way it works on the Streichfett is silly (i.e. the lower keys play both solo and strings and the upper keys only strings).

use the Split Selector:

This switch allows to set a key split for the Solo section.
Three positions are available:

• Low (left position): Only keys lower than the split
key will sound. Holding down one key when "Low"
is selected sets the split key to the current note being
held.

• Layer (middle position): Solo plays on all keys.

• High (right position): Only keys higher or equal to
the split key will sound. Set the split key by holding
down desired key while switching to "High".

@TeleTom: That's exactly the problem: that will play the solo part AND the strings on either the left or the right side of the keyboard (whilst the other side plays only the Solo part). I want the Solo left and the Strings and ONLY the Strings on the right. That is: I'd like to split the keyboard "for real".

Can you split your controller keyboard so it sends a different channel on the two halves of it? I'm assuming you know that the solo voice responds to notes sent on the channel one above the global MIDI channel allowing for independent control for each voice via MIDI if desired.

Hi MeneerJansen,

I understand, in that case it's the other way around. I see it like megamarkd, you need a Masterkeyboard with Midi-Split. You can also use a Software solution, e.g. MIDI-OX. Under Options > Data Mapping > Translation Map you can create a Mapping (there's a Template "Keyboard Split.oxm").

Thank you for your replies and possible solutions. My keyboard does not have the option to use two midi channels and frankly I wouldn't know of any keyboard on the market today that can.

I have no computer between my Streichfett and my Midi keyboard. And I use Linux, not Windows, so MidiOX is out of the question, but its a nice tip anyway. :)

I still think it would be a great service by Waldorf if they'd update the Streichfewtt's firmware to do this. The way it works now is silly.
