Hello.

Isn't Streichfett MIDI-OUT port supposed to echo everything that comes on IN? Mine doesn't seem to transmit anything at all, neither on DIN port nor on USB.

Perhaps it should be turned on somehow?

cheers,

Is there anybody out there from Waldorf, for a definitive answer? Perhaps I've got a defective unit and should return it to Thomann?

Talking to myself (but I'll leave this here for posterity):

The MIDI Out/USB MIDI in Streichfett does indeed transmit controller changes and program changes from onboard knobs and switches.

It doesn't however echo anything coming from MIDI In, unlike, say, Virus TI, where this is switchable.

So at least my unit isn't defective, I suppose. I wish the manual were clearer about that.

Hi, are you getting actual notes from your midi out? I seem to be getting a c major no matter what I do!

Juste recieved my streichfett and have had lot of midi output problem befor i understood why.

Solution and problem is automatic midi detection.

In handbook midi channel input is set by pressing all 4 preset down and playing note on keyboard.

In normal use Streichfett is in omni mode.
But has in fact Streichfett has 2 input channel 1 for string and 1 for solo..

When setup with a keyboard you will have both channel on same selected chanel.

Now the big probleme:
When you connect to a sequencer midi input is saturated by all incommind midi data from all channel.
and bug the Streichfett.
Streichfet has panic button Unfortunelly the button are the same as for midi channel settings !!!!

Preset Butons 1234 !!

Suddenly i had only sound from Solo. And i was belieeving Streichfett is dead after 1hour of use.

But in fact because sequencer was running String and solo were set on different midi chanel as i used panic button.

It took me 1 hour to find the problem.

Waldorf should change that .
Why not just 2 buttons (1-2) instead (1234) for panic
or (1-2) for selection midi chanel string and (3-4) for selecting midi chanel solo.

Cheers for the info. I am amid a big repatch and was hoping to be able to use the Streichfett as an interface to pass MIDI from my MIO4 USB host onto another MIDI patchbay and save a DIN port on the MIO4. Looks like I'll be doing it with another device.

Not surprised that the Streichfett doesn't echo MIDI on the out. Even though every other Waldorf device I own has a THRU port (or echo, like the Pulse2), I sorta knew the Streichfett wouldn't THRU the input data. The lack of an old fashioned DC powerpack sorta was a good indication. But hey, it's working perfectly on the MIO4 USB host port.
