Does Waldorf still offer the service of upgrading a Micro Q to Omega?

Hallo gridsleep,

afaik-no. :-(
For a upgrade you need a Voice-Expansion-Board.
But these boards are sold out for a long time.

There is a Waldorf expander board for sale on eBay right now, for only the newer blue Micro Q and the Q. I would get it but it is out of my price range at the moment (not to mention not having a Micro Q, and the only blue one also out of range.) Anyway, I have Largo which can easily produce 256 voices (per instance!) in my laptop.

The only reason I was interested in getting a Micro Q at this point is to run external sound through the filter, which the Largo cannot do. I have several other hardware synths that allow that in addition to two Korg effects modules. I am also on the brink of getting a Pulse+, which has the same flavor filter and amp as the Micro Q, in analog, so that will take care of that. It would be nice to have an Omega but really at this point it would be vanity.

A cheaper idea-a second microQ.
Ok, not 75 voices but up to 25 more voices. :-)

At this point the obtaining of a first Micro Q requires waiting for a month of savings. Anyway, the expansion card that was available was purchased by someone so that is back to the pipe dream stage. It is a good idea to use multiples. But the only real difference between Largo and Q/Microwave hardware is that Largo cannot process external signal as an oscillator. Other than that, Largo can run up to 256 voices per instance. How many Micro Q is that? Over ten. I can be happy with what I have. Good suggestion, though. Cheers.

Hi gridsleep,

I'm sure if you own more than 10 microQ you're the hero of the century. ;-)
