Hi everyone,

Is there a way to reset LFO 1 on the Pulse 2 to restart when a key is pressed? At the moment it seems to be free-running which makes tempo-synced modulations with a square wave nearly impossible. I've looked through the menus but can't seem to find anything.

I'd appreciate your help with this.

Thanks,

Mark.

I rarely use keysync on my LFO's so didn't notice there isn't a trigger mode for them on the Pulse 2. Looking through I think there maybe a way to fake it with LFO 2 by putting assigning a delay value of 1 and using Env F in Retrigger1 mode. Dunno, I haven't tried it myself but the manual does say "Delay delays the start of LFO oscillation after an incoming MIDI note has been received" which seems to imply the cycle starts at the end of the delay. If it does indeed do that, it would mean you can control the triggering of the LFO with a key-on, albeit with a tiny delay.

Thanks. Yes, I'd thought of that but LFO 2 can't use a square wave or S&H. I'm trying to create a rhythmical patch using a square wave on LFO 1 but it's impossible to sync it to a tempo as it's seemingly free running only.

LFO1 speed can be synchronised to the MIDI tempo so you can have the cycle starting on down beats by choosing even divisions of the tempo, but I'm sure you would already be aware of that and there is something stopping you from using that. I've not noticed the LFO not being in phase with the tempo when using MIDI sync (LFO cycle not starting on the first beat of any bar) though could imagine that it could occur

This hasn't been my experience. The LFO is indeed in "time" with the tempo when I use the Clocked Mode LFO waveforms but they never start at the same place for me. Try setting a clocked saw waveform that lasts for 2 bars length - so, really slow - and get it to affect to affect something audible. Press and hold the key whilst your DAW's running and you should find that whilst it's in time (i.e., it keeps repeating to the DAW's clock perfectly) it won't start in the same place on each key press.

I've come to the conclusion that the only real way of achieving what I want to achieve is to assign things to the Mod wheel and automate that in Logic. It's a pain having to do this as it'd be far easier if the actual patch did this with LFO Key Sync but there you go. Can't have everything I suppose. Hopefully they'll implement this in Pulse 3. :D
