hi there,

i have a microwave I for a couple of months now, two questions are popping up, and i could not find very clear answers on the net (or in the manual)

1.) when i try to write a whole soundest (single and multi) from an editor (sws microwave editor on hatari, sounddiver) to the microwave i always get a sysex dump error and many presets are f***ed up afterwards. if i copy them one by one it works. is this likely to be an issue with my usb-midi converters that handle large sysex files not correctly? or is something wrong with the microwave itself?

2.) kind of related, what exactly happens when i replace the battery inside the microwave? i understand that the sounds get deleted, but apart from that? are all wavetables also deleted? even the stock/factory wavetables? if so, what is the best or savest way to change the battery? i read some comments about having to copy the sounds back from a ram-card because sysex would not work. can somebody elaborate a little on this?

thanks for any answers.

1.) The microWave firmware 2.0 is known to be bug free. So the problem is somewhere in the transmission and receiving. Sometimes it is just a USB hub causing problems.
I never had problems here with my iMac, Emagic mt4 interface and SysEx Libarian software.
But what firmware version are you using? 2.0 is the last one. Maybe you are on pre 1.25? Backing up using 1.25 worked fine here too.

2.) You loose your sounds, multis, your global settings., user wavetables, etc. And the filter calibration values will also get erased. The ROM waves and wavetable are not deleted.
So do a full backup of all data first. And, yes, backing up via MIDI should work.

Here a link how to tune the MW filters:

The quality of batteries varies sometimes. I had mine microWave about 10 years without the need of changing the battery ever.

ok, backup via microwave panel to sysex librarian works like a charm. also the other way around. so no hardware issue it seems. what does not work correctly is the communication with the editors, sound diver etc. all fail when i try to write all multis to the microwave i always get a bulk dump error...

however, backing up via sysex librarian is already great.
