The Wave for your iPad

Nave is Waldorf’s first synthesizer App development – created by chief engineer and director Stefan Stenzel and nLog mastermind Rolf Wöhrmann. See Nave as the next step in Wavetable synthesis – the new Wave.

The Nave sound engine includes two novel Wavetable oscillators, leaving every previous attempt in wavetable synthesis far behind. The spectrum of a sound can be transposed independently of its pitch. The waves are being rendered periodically to noisy. Especially sounds with an accent on formants can be reproduced easily, which made us integrate a versatile voice synthesizer for the easy creation of wavetables.

Using the large, high resolution display of the iPad makes wavetable editing a blast. In addition to the Wavetable Oscillators, Nave offers one classic Oscillator with all basic waveforms plus a fat “Überwave” function.

Using the integrated Waldorf Multimode Filter and its Drive function helps to refine the output of the wavetable oscillators to generate any conceivable sound from smoothly animated Wavetable scans up to brutal overdriven leads. An extended modulation matrix and diverse real time control functionality is waiting for animating Nave sounds in any desired direction.

Besides the classic virtual chromatic keyboard, Nave can be played with the “Blades”, that allow for dynamic triggering of polyphonic modulation by sliding the fingers in x or y direction.

The Wave Page – for editing the Wave-tables and adjusting the up to 3 Oscillators plus the “Überwave” function.

Full screen Wavetable Edit mode – here you can edit and (finely) adjust the wavetables by using one out of seven 3-dimensional views. User Wavetables can be generated out of any audio file and manipulated in depth.

On the “Tape & Sys” page, you find another exclusive Nave highlight: The 4-track recorder – very old school, very minimalistic, – very much fun to use. It can be used to built your own Nave songs – or to simply sketch your music, inspired by the sounds of Nave.

The FX?&?Arp section offers pro quality synthesizer effects (phaser, flanger, chorus as well as delay and reverb). Additionally you will find a parametric EQ and a highly effective compressor. A very flexible arpeggiator adds to the fun, offering any feature you would typically like to find in such a module – plus some highly musical extra features, that help you to link Nave structures and sounds into your existing recording setup.

Filter & Envelope page, uses an exact emulation of Waldorf’s legendary analog multimode filter.

The unique Blades allow for polyphonic sound control by simply sliding your fingers in x- and/or y direction.

Tape & System Page – with the real time recorder you can record up to 4 synthesizer tracks.

FX & Arpeggiator page – first class synthesizer effects and the clever arpeggiator make it fun to process and trigger your sounds.
