Microwave XT issue with polyphony - 5 notes only

I have a Microwave XT which has recently started only sounding 5 voices. It's the 10 voice version, board 3 and it used to work fine. The assign parameter is set to
"normal" and it's not in multi-mode. Is there some reason this could happen, that the polyphony could be suddenly halved?

Disconnect the MIDI out of the XT (so only the MIDI input used) and try again. Now better?
If yes, you got a MIDI loop in your setup. Maybe check the DAW settings then.

Disconnecting and reconnecting the midi output from the unit fixed it instantly. I should have thought of that. Thank you so much for solving this, much appreciated!
