Activating/deactivating Multi Mode via Midi/Sysex string - anyone succeed?

Zaphod Betamax, have you succeeded in selecting a multi preset using midi?

My research indicates the correct sequence is to send the following on the global midi channel:
  • CC00 127
  • PC ##

My Blofeld has the latest firmware (1.25), global midi channel is 5 and is in play multi mode. The midi LED lights when I transmit. Nothing happens.

I’ve proven connectivity by sending the CC00 Bank # CC32 00 PC sound # sequence to select a play mode patch, and it works every time (when the Blofeld is in play mode, of course).

I’ve tried adding a delay between the two codes, ranging from 100 to 1,000ms in 100ms increments. I’ve tried adding CC32 00, as well as substituting CC32 in place of CC00. I’ve transmitted the sequence on every channel from 1 to 5 (above 5 is where my multi parts sit). None of this has worked.

Any ideas?

Problem solved. As I said in another post, Global Parameters Control Y set to 12 (0C) interfered with the Multi Mode program change. I am now reliably selecting the multi!

Now back to starting/ending “play multi” mode itself. I can’t get it to work.

I requested the global parameters from my Blofeld twice using the following Sysex:
F0 3E 13 00 04 F7

When in normal play mode, the synth returned the following:
F0 3E 13 00 14 02 00 02 09 00 02 00 04 00 04 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 01 05 00 0B 2D 40 40 00 00 03 01 01 00 02 00 03 02 03 0B 0D 35 00 01 00 00 00 00 00 00 7F 15 00 00 00 00 00 01 00 47 F7

When in "play multi" mode, the synth returned the following:
F0 3E 13 00 14 02 01 02 09 00 02 00 04 00 04 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 01 05 00 0B 2D 40 40 00 00 03 01 01 00 02 00 03 02 03 0B 0D 35 00 01 00 00 00 00 00 00 7F 15 00 00 00 00 00 01 00 48 F7

As you can see, the 7th byte and the 79th byte are the differences. As I understand it, toggling the 7th byte indicates, if not sets, play multi mode. The 79th byte is the checksum.

Peter, you reported in this thread that you got this working by changing the 7th byte. I found that sending the Sysex string without changing the checksum did nothing. I next tried sending the exact Sysex the Blofeld responded with when I did a global data request when in Play Multi mode. Alas, that froze my Blofeld.

I rebooted the unit, and it worked fine. That said, I have not succeeded in activating multi mode.

@Peter-Ostry, any light you could shed on this would be very much appreciated.

Thanks!

IT WORKS!!

The Sysex sequence I described above in fact does toggle the Blofeld in and out of play multi mode!
