actually just learned that if a part's midi status is set to 'mute', i can set that part's midi channel to 'global' or 'omni' and continue playing any parts that are set to 'play'. once i set that part's status to 'play', however, as soon as i hit any keys my blofeld freezes up. i'm on a blokeys running v1.25 btw!

Try setting the volume of the individual sound within the multi to 0 or the desired level when you want to play it, instead of using the mute function.

If you have something that can map a control to the required CC, set each part in the multi to a DIFFERENT midi channel. That way you can select the part you want and raise its volume.

As I said in an earlier post, I use a KMI Softstep 2 foot pedal together with a BomeBox. With any flexible midi controller, the sequence I am suggesting should be relatively easy to achieve.

The key is that each part is on its own midi channel so you can independently change the volume of each part.
